For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He knows your going through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”’
Deuteronomy 2:7
This verse is found in the historical prologue of Deuteronomy. We see three things here: since Moses is not going to enter the promise land, (1) he appointed leaders. He also (2) reminded them of the many opportunities that they wasted. In spite of their wicked rebellion against Yahweh who delivered them from their enemies, (3) Moses recollected how the LORD has been faithful to them so they reached the place they were. Moses reviewed God’s goodness before they transition to a new journey in the promise land. Before the year ends, it would be beneficial to recollect the LORD’s goodness to our church and its members.
This year, though the LORD removed six souls from our church, He added 13 new covenant members which include the restoration of two souls.
This year, the church experienced dark providences when we left our church building which resulted from the excommunication of some members. But God remained faithful when He by His perfect wisdom and grace brought us back to PCU-UTS, where we rented before. This time, the LORD caused not only our spiritual but also our numerical growth.
This year, our church’s name was also changed from Salitran Covenant Bible Church to Herald of Grace Covenant Bible Church of Cavite. We also changed the name of our two ministries: TheologyCheck and The Christian Worldview Project to Herald of Grace Literature and Herald of Grace Apologetics respectively. This is to align us to our ultimate mission which is to be “Herald of Grace.” For it is by grace alone that we are here and we will remain as proclaimers of the gospel of Jesus Christ who loved and saved us with His blood and righteousness.
This year, we are surprised by the announcement of our four members who will be married next year.
This year, our church, for the first time, experienced disciplining two church members. It was painful but we trust in the LORD when He says, the LORD disciplines whom He loves.
This year, we started our seminary: Covenant Reformed Seminary of Asia. It aims to equip men for the ministry as faithful heralds of grace.
This year, the LORD answered our prayers and gave us three deacons who focused on the tangible and practical needs of the church and our pastor.
This year, our church hosted another Reformation Conference. Our speakers dealt with the modern challenges against Sola Scriptura.
This year, with heavy hearts, some of our members and our pastor experienced the loss of loved ones.
In all these things, whether we rejoice or mourn, whether we celebrate milestones or grieve in times of affliction, we are full of hope and clinging only to Him who owns the coming year. “For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that He swore to them.” (De 4:31)
Here are some of our pictures that testify to God’s faithfulness (HGCBCC 2022).
