“ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
Ephesians 1:3, ESV
SOME EXCERPTS AND LESSONS FROM TODAY’S MESSAGE
MORNING SERMON
SERMON FOCUS: “BE OF THE SAME MIND”
Text: Romans 12:15-16
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.”
- MIND NOT HIGH THINGS
- BE NOT WISE IN YOUR OWN EYES
– We must not aspire to exalt ourselves, but rather associate with the lowly or humble.
– We should not consider ourselves as imminent. Allow yourself to be carried away by the humble.
– Don’t be carried away by things that cause you to be arrogant. Pride goes before destruction.
– Our assessment of others is not in terms of carnal things but in terms of spiritual things.
– It’s only in the church that sincere love and concern for the brethren are being worked out.
“The person who is wise in his own eyes is rarely so in the eyes of other people.”
Leon Morris
AFTERNOON MESSAGE
SERMON FOCUS: “THE DEATH AND SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST”
Text: Mark 15:25-37
- THE SACRIFICIAL TRANSACTION
- A FEW PASSAGES ON THE CROSS
– It was a cry of victory as the atonement for sin has been done. The defeat of Satan was sealed.
– It was a natural death and a supernatural death at the same time.
– Sin has separated us from God but since the substitute fulfilled and satisfied God’s justice, there was reconciliation and we have a spirit of sonship.
– Do not be reconciled with God on your own terms but according to the term of God…. through the death and sacrifice of Christ. Come to Him thru Christ.
“He [Christ] gave up his life because he wield when he wield it as he wield it. “
– St. Augustine
Blessed LORD’s day, dear saints!
To God alone be the glory!
