Wallace’s Top Translations

Dan Wallace has three criteria in Bible translation: accuracy, readability, and elegance.

  • For accuracy as “the translator’s translation”: NET
  • For accuracy with readability: NIV
  • For understated elegance: ESV
  • For elegance with “rich words” and that is “literary”: KJV and REB
  • For ecumenical (not one of his three criteria but Wallace still mentioned it): NRSV

Here’s the video from Mike Licona. This video is worth watching for Dan Wallace, who is a professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and a New Testament Textual critic, has great insights into different Bible Translations.

What about you? What are your top picks?
