LORD’s Day #16 (2022)

We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple. As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!

Psalms 48:9-11 ESV

On the sixteenth LORD’s Day of this year, as we gather in our temporary location before moving to the new one, the LORD has blessed His people by reminding us of His independence, self-sufficiency, eternality, infinity, and the great salvation that we must value. God is indeed faithful. We are thankful to God since His glory does not reside on a building but His gathered people, that the foundation of our salvation is not the church building but the Rock of our salvation, Jesus Christ.

Excerpts and Lessons from and HGCBCC Pulpit

How to Hear Sermons?
During Sermon
1. Listen Aggressively
2. Listen Reverently
3. Listen Believingly

The devil is not one who refuses to come to church. He attends but not with any good intent, he takes away the word from mwn. How many have been robbed of the sermons and their souls both at ones.

[T. Watson]
[T. Boston] Though the voice is on earth the speaker is in heaven. And we should consider it so as to come here listening to God.
[David Clarkson] - The gospel according as it is heard is great mercy or a great judgment, a blessing or curse. Therefore, get a reason to take heed. The abuse of the greatest mercy may curse it.
[J. Burroughs] As there must be attending to the Word of God so there must be an opening of the heart to receive what God speaks to you.
[G. Swinnock] "When the glad tidings of peace are preached let your heart leave with hope... He that hates your sins most loves you best."
The Independence of God
Text: Romans 11:34-35
I. You can't counsel God v. 34
II. You can't obligate God v. 35

We can never know the mind of the LORD unless He graciously reveals it to us. As our God is infinite so are His ways and judgments. God does not need our counsel. But how many times did we try to counsel our God?

Weighty truth: God does not need you. God does not need us. God needs nothing from us. God does not require our existence for His survival.

The Greatness of Our Salvation
Text: Hebrews 2:2-4
Why the great salvation must not be neglected?
1. Because of the Nature of its Greatness
- It is Pronounced by God
- It is Proclaimed by Christ Himself
- It is Purchased by Christ's Blood
- It is Produces Great Effect

2. Because of the Results of its Neglect
To ignore this great salvationmeans three things:
- Rejecting Christ
- Despising Knowledge
- Embracing Destruction

Our salvation is great not because of the saved ones, but because of the person and work of the Savior.

Text: 1 John 2:16 – Do not love the World
Message: True love for the Father is demonstrated in our hatred of the world
Two things that the world that we should hate if we truly love the Father
1. Sinful Lust
2. Prideful Life

Being proud of your possessions is dethroning the God who possesses all things.
