LORD’s Day #15 (2022)

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Psalm 95:6‭-‬7 ESV

Today, the LORD’s Day has been a reminder of the preciousness of God’s Word and how to hear a sermon. What we are taught today shows the seriousness the duty that is entrusted to us as a church, the pillar and support of truth.

Excerpts and Lessons from BVCBF and HGCBCC Pulpit

How to Hear Sermons?
Before a sermon
1. Pray Diligently
2. Prepare Practically
3. Repent Sincerely

Shorter Catechism
Q. 90. How is the word to be read and heard, that it may become effectual to salvation?
A. That the word may become effectual to salvation, we must attend thereunto with diligence, preparation and prayer; receive it with faith and love, lay it up in our hearts, and practice it in our lives.

"The blessing of God's word is hindered when you come before the LORD with unconfessed sin."

“Come to the church NOT on time but BEFORE the time. When you are on time, you are late. Let us grow in this!”

God's ways and judgments are unfathomable
Text: Romans 11:34-36
I. The Unsearchableness of God's Judgment
II. The Inscrutability of God's Ways

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand.

The Truth and the People of God Part 1
Text: Isaiah 8:16
Message: The people of God, entrusted with His trust and taught with His Word, have a clear and weighty duty
1. The Duty Entrusted
- A clear duty
- A weighty duty
2. The Description of the Entrusted Ones
- They are followers of God
- They are owned by God

Our duty (as people of God) is a CLEAR and a WEIGHTY DUTY because what is entrusted is PRECIOUS. It is entrusted exclusively to GOD's PEOPLE.

As we are set apart by the truth , we should set the truth apart in our hearts.

Do not ask, “why do bad things happen to good people?”, rather ask, “why do good things happen to bad people like us?”
