Na hindi dapat akong magbintang ng hindi tama kanino man, ni hindi rin dapat na baluktutin ang salita ng iba; huwag makipagtsismisan o manirang-puri; na hindi ako dapat humatol o sumali sa paghatol kaninuman nang hindi napapakinggan o walang sapat na dahilan; sa halip ay iiwasan ko ang lahat ng anyo ng pagsisinungaling at panlilinlang na siyang mga gawa ng diyablo, kundi ay magdudulot ito sa akin ng labis na poot ng Diyos; gayunman sa paghatol at sa pakikitungo sa iba ay dapat kong ibigin ang katotohanan lamang, sabihin ito ng tahasan, ipahayag ng buong tapang; at dapat ko ring ipagtanggol at itaguyod sa abot ng aking makakaya, ang karangalan at reputasyon ng aking kapwa.
Ang bawat salitang lumalabas sa ating bibig ay sinasambit natin sa harapan ng Diyos. Kaya hindi tayo nararapat na maging bulaang saksi sa kahit kanino at baluktutin ang sinalita ng kahit sinuman. Ipinagbabawal din ng utos na ito ang tsismis, paninirang-puri, at paghusga ng walang batayan. Nakita natin na ang Diyos ay katotohanan at walang kasinungalingan sa Kanya. Ang pagsisinungaling o anumang anyo nito ay laban sa Diyos at pagsunod sa ama ng kasinungalingan, ang Demonyo. Sa tuwing tayo ay nagsisinungaling ay ginagawa natin ang gawa ng Kaaway (John 8:44). Mahalaga ang pagsasabi ng katotohanan. Si Hesus ay dinala sa krus dahil sa bulaang saksi. Ang unang martir ng Iglesia ay dahil sa bulaang saksi. Ang Diyos ay namumuhi sa bulaang saksi na nagsasalita ng kasinungalingan (Proverbs 6:16-19). Kaya ang mga tao ng Diyos ay dapat na mamuhi sa kasinungalin at maging matapat na saksi sa lahat ng pagkakataon at sa lahat ng panahon.
Ito ay gabay sa mga magulang sa pagtuturo gamit ang Katekismong Baptist para sa mga bata.

Q.105. What does the ninth commandment teach you?
A. Never to lie, but to tell the truth at all times. (Prov 12:22)
Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 ESV
Again, the Heidelberg Catechism (1563) summarized this:
That I never give false testimony against anyone, twist no one’s words, not gossip or slander, nor join in condemning anyone rashly or without a hearing. Rather, in court and everywhere else, I should avoid lying and deceit of every kind; these are the very devices the devil uses, and they would call down on me God’s intense wrath. I should love the truth, speak it candidly, and openly acknowledge it. And I should do what I can to guard and advance my neighbor’s good name.
Every word that comes out of our mouths is spoken before God’s presence. So we should not be false witnesses to anyone and distort what anyone has said. This commandment also forbids gossip, slander, and unfounded judgment. We see that God is truth and there is no lie in Him. Lying or any form of it is against God and following the father of lies, the Devil. Whenever we lie we are doing the work of the Enemy (John 8:44). It is important to tell the truth. Jesus was taken to the cross because of a false witness. The first martyr of the Church died because of false witnesses. God hates a false witness who breathes out lies (Proverbs 6: 16-19). So God’s people must hate falsehood and be faithful witnesses at all times.
