LORD’s Day #13 (2022)

I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and be careful to obey my rules, and keep my Sabbaths holy that they may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’

Ezekiel 20:19-20 ESV

Today, we have seen God’s abundant lovingkindness. Just look around and see how His mercies are never ceasing. But when you look at the cross, you’ll see His mercy abounds all the more!

Excerpts and Lessons from HGCBCC Pulpit

1689 32.2 Of the last judgment

The end of God’s appointing this day is for the manifestation of the glory of his mercy, in the eternal salvation of the elect; and of his justice, in the eternal damnation of the reprobate, who are wicked and disobedient;1 for then shall the righteous go into everlasting life and receive that fullness of joy and glory with everlasting rewards, in the presence of the Lord; but the wicked, who know not God and obey not the gospel of Jesus Christ, shall be cast aside into everlasting torments and punished with everlasting destruction, from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power.

A. The identity of the goal (twofold)
1. The manifestation of God’s glorious mercy in the eternal salvation of the elect
2. The manifestation of God’s justice in the eternal damnation of the reprobate who are wicked and disobedient
B. The realization of the goal (two distinct ends)
1. For the righteous - for then shall the righteous go into everlasting life and receive that fullness of joy and glory with everlasting rewards, in the presence of the Lord
2. For the wicked - but the wicked, who know not God and obey not the gospel of Jesus Christ, shall be cast aside into everlasting torments and punished with everlasting destruction, from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power.

“If a person understands the Christian gospel, he will realizre that it is a humbling gospel. It is a loving and unselfish gospel.”

~ HGCBCC
"The God that most people believe in today has good intention but powerless to carry it out. The God of popular Christianity and modern day preaching can never be found in the Scriptures. But the God of the Bible is the Almighty God!"

“When it seems to us that God is late, God is always on time. That is our comfort. Worries don’t help. It only aggravates our situation. God has His own timetable. He sees the end from the beginning.”

HGCBCC Pulpit
The presence of evil does not negate the goodness of God, but it proves God's goodness even more. How can we know that God is faithful if there is no pain?

Since the earth is full of God's lovingkindness, we must seek His Word all the more, for in it we see how the LORD fills all with His steadfast love.

Blessed Lord’s Day!
