But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20:24
For my today’s devotion after meditating on Acts 20:24, the LORD reminded me of this portion from Arthur Bennett’s The Valley of Vision. I also remembered this song from the Village Church. May these minister to you as they did to me.
O LORD,
Bennett (1975) p.83
No day of my life has passed that has not proved me guilty in thy sight.
Prayers have been uttered from a prayerless heart;
Praise has been often praiseless sound;
[Scripture has been read with thoughtless mind];
My best services are filthy rags.
Blessed Jesus, let me find a covert in thy appeasing wounds…
I am guilty, but pardoned,
lost, but saved,
wandering, but found,
sinning, but cleansed.
Give me perpetual broken-heartedness,
Keep me always clinging to thy cross,
Flood me every moment with descending grace…
