SCBC Lord’s day #38

Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!

Psa 65:4 ESV

“We must dedicate the whole day to God… All this day must be spent with God: he must be worshipped in public; and when we come home, we must have family worship. Many leave all their religion at church, as I have seen some do their bibles; not hallowing God’s name in their own houses… When men pretend to worship God in the temple but cut him short from family and closet duties on a Sabbath; this is to rob God, and steal part of his day from him.” — Thomas Watson

He did not choose the elect because of faith, but He chose them for faith and for salvation through faith in Christ (McGraw). This is our confidence in preaching. The elect will truly respond in faith.

Bella Vista Sunday School: The Eternal Relations of the Trinity —  1689 LBCF 2.3c

To deny that the Jesus is the Christ is to lose the promise of the Father. To deny that Jesus is the Son is to have no access to the Father. Both denials make anyone without hope in this world. You cannot choose what you want to believe about Christ. Some say that He is a good teacher, that He is a servant of God, that He is a prophet. He is not just a good teacher, a servant of God or a prophet. He is the Messiah, the Son of God. He is the hope of the world!

The believers’ fellowship is bonded with humility. Believers have a unity of heart and mind.

SCBC Sunday School: The Identity of the Believer’s Communion — 1689 LBCF 27.2

Christianity is not a passionless and cold religion, it is zealous to Christ. It does not accommodate lukewarm service to Christ. Our zeal in following Christ must be educated by the word of God. Zeal without knowledge is dangerous.

SCBC Morning Message: God’s sovereignty and Prayer — Romans 10:1-4

Jesus as the Son of God is superior over the angels because of His exalted position, more excellent Name, preeminence and majesty. He alone must be worshipped to the glory of the Father.

Afternoon Message: The Superiority of Christ over Angels —  Heb 1:4-7

We must never underestimate small things. We must guard the church from false doctrines. Wrong doctrine will infect the whole church. We must seek to maintain doctrinal purity and doctrinal soundness.
