Presuppositionalism in Action 2

The host of the Christian Worldview Project, bro. Jordan Ravanes had a debate on the existence of the Triune God. You can watch the entire debate here entitled “Does the Christian God Exist?” We have seen his opening statement in Presuppositionalism in Action 1. Now, here is his closing statement.

Did we hear my opponent justify the laws of logic, uniformity of nature, and ethics in his worldview? No. And it is not surprising because if atheism is true there are no immaterial, spaceless, timeless, and unchangeable laws of logic. Because everything should be material in nature.

There will be no expected order in the universe. If that’s the case then science is impossible because everything is just random. We cannot expect an order from a random chance universe.

There will be no ethics because what’s good for you may not be good for me and each of us can stipulate morality on our own. We can only complain but not object since we are just talking about preferences. Morality is reduced to things such as eating flavors of ice cream.

But, let me talk to my Christian brethren for a second. In Luke 21:10-19 (ESV):

10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. 13 This will be your opportunity to bear witness. 

This is foolishness for atheism. But press on brothers and sisters.

14 Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. 16 You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers[a] and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death. 17 You will be hated by all for my name's sake. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Now let me talk to atheists in general.

You may be enjoying your life now while you are still alive. Or maybe convinced that you are still going to live tomorrow since you have not died in the past (appealing to induction all the days of your life). You are all image-bearer of God–the very reason why you can rationalize things, trust your own senses, and able to do science because those things are gifts that come from God. But the problem is, you use this exact same gift to go against God. The God that cared for your soul. God’s requirement is 100% obedience and we all failed. That is why Christ became a man, suffered on the cross, shed His blood and died on our behalf, and rose again so you and I may be justified before God. Repent and put your trust in Christ or waste your life disproving God. The God that will judge you if you will continue to love your sin over Him.

I am not troubled if many atheists will not be persuaded by my arguments tonight. After all Christ’s sheep hear his voice and they will follow him. If you hear this message, praise God. He who has ears to hear let them hear.
